The LOKE customer journey: how customers earn points
Ever wondered what your customers see when they pay with LOKE? This guide walks you through their journey from placing an order to earning points, so you and your team can help them along the way.
Step 1: The customer places their order
The customer orders their food as usual, at the counter or wherever they normally order.
Step 2: Your staff sends the payment to the terminal
Once the order is ready to pay, your staff member pushes the payment through to the Stripe Terminal.
Step 3: The customer chooses a tip
The terminal will show the customer some tip options. They can pick the tip amount they would like to add before paying.
Step 4: The customer taps to pay
The customer taps their card, phone or watch on the terminal to pay.
Step 5: A QR code appears
If this is the first time the customer has paid with this card, a QR code will appear on the terminal screen, inviting them to create a loyalty account.
Step 6: The customer scans the QR code and signs up
The customer scans the QR code with their phone camera and enters their details. To finish, they just need to tap Continue, and their card is linked to their new loyalty account.
Step 7: Points are earned automatically from then on
That’s it! Every time the customer pays with that same card in future, they’ll earn points automatically. They won’t need to scan a QR code or link the card again.
Good to know
- No QR code? That’s a good sign. If a QR code doesn’t appear after payment, the customer’s card is already linked and their points have been added automatically.
- Points on the first transaction. Points aren’t automatically awarded on the very first transaction when a new card is linked. If a customer asks about this, contact LOKE Support with the transaction details and we’ll add the points manually.
- Apple Pay and Google Pay are linked separately. These count as different payment methods to a physical card, so if a customer switches between them, they’ll see a QR code the first time they use each one.
- Linked cards are for in-store loyalty. A card linked at the terminal won’t automatically appear in the app for delivery or pickup orders. Customers can add it in the Payments section of their account.
