LOKE Terminal is a card payment device that lets customers pay in-store by tapping their card or phone. Payments are processed securely and connected to your LOKE loyalty program — so customers can earn points every time they visit.
This article covers everything your team needs to get up and running.

What is LOKE Terminal?
LOKE Terminal is a physical payment device that accepts:
- Contactless card (tap)
- Chip card (insert)
- Apple Pay and Google Pay
Every payment is an opportunity to grow your loyalty program. After a customer pays, the terminal connects the transaction to their LOKE account and adds points automatically. If their card isn't linked yet, a QR code appears so they can sign up on the spot.
Taking a payment
How you take a payment depends on whether your terminal is integrated with your POS or not.
If your terminal is non-integrated (manual entry):
- Enter the order into your POS as usual. Do not complete the order yet.
- Manually enter the total amount on the terminal.
- The customer taps their card or phone.
- Wait for the payment to be approved.
- Close the order in the POS and tender it as App Payment.
If your terminal is integrated with your POS:
- Enter the order in the POS. The total will appear on the terminal automatically.
- The customer taps their card or phone.
- Wait for the payment to be approved.
- The order closes automatically in the POS.
💡 Tip: Always print receipts from the POS — not the terminal.
Loyalty points and the QR code
If the customer's card is already linked to their account: Points are added automatically and no QR code will appear. Nothing extra is needed.
If the customer's card is not yet linked: A QR code will appear on the terminal screen after payment. The customer can scan it to:
- Sign in to their existing loyalty account, or
- Create a new account and join the program
Their card will be linked and future taps will earn points automatically.
⚠️ Please note: Points are not awarded on the very first transaction when a new card is linked. If a customer asks about this, let them know they can contact LOKE Support with their receipt and we'll add those points for them.
Apple Pay and Google Pay
Apple Pay and Google Pay are treated as separate payment methods, even if the underlying card is already linked. If a customer taps Apple Pay but their physical card is what's linked to their account, the QR code will appear and points won't be added automatically. To earn points via Apple Pay, that payment method needs to be linked separately.
What to say to customers
| If a customer says… | You can say… |
|---|---|
| "I want to pay with the app" | "We now take payments through our card terminal — just tap your card and you'll still earn loyalty points." |
| "What is the QR code on the screen?" | "That's how you connect your card to your rewards account so you can earn points. Just scan it with your phone!" |
| "I paid but I didn't get any points" | "The first time you use a new card, points aren't added automatically. Please get in touch with LOKE Support and we'll sort it out for you." |
| "I didn't have time to scan the QR code" | "You can save your card directly in the app to use for future payments. You'll just need to manually enter your card details." |
Applying promotions and discounts
If a customer has a promotion or discount to apply, they should do this in the LOKE app before paying at the terminal. The final amount charged may be slightly different from what appears on the terminal screen once discounts are applied.
