What Is Intelligent Upsell
Intelligent Upsell helps increase your average order value by showing customers three relevant products at checkout. Instead of displaying the same items every time, Intelligent Upsell learns which types of suggestions your customers respond to and shows the most effective upsell options.
Once turned on, it runs automatically.
How Intelligent Upsell Works
When a customer reaches checkout, they will see three products that are chosen using one of several upsell methods. The system decides which method to use based on what performs best for your business over time.
The types of upsell suggestions include:
Learn To Rank
This method looks at customer behaviour and what customers commonly buy together. It then recommends the three products most likely to be added to the order.
Tagged Upsell Products
If you want to guide which products appear as upsells, you can add the loke_upsell tag to specific items.
You can add this tag in two ways:
Request LOKE to add the tag for you
Add the tag in your POS system if your POS supports tagging that syncs with LOKE
Random Suggestions
Occasionally the system will show three random products to learn what new options customers may respond well to.
What Customers See
At checkout, customers will see:
Three product suggestions
Items that are not already in their basket
Suggestions that load instantly with no delay
These suggestions are designed to feel natural and relevant to their order.
As customers interact with these items, Intelligent Upsell learns what works best for your organisation and improves automatically.
What You Can Configure
Tagging Products For Upsell
If you want certain items to be considered for upsell, you can apply the loke_upsell tag.
You may:
Contact LOKE Support and ask us to add the tag
orAdd the tag yourself through your POS system if tagging is supported
Tagging is optional. Intelligent Upsell will still work even if you do nothing.
How To Turn On Intelligent Upsell For Your Business
You cannot activate this feature yourself. A LOKE team member must enable it for your organisation.
To get Intelligent Upsell turned on:
Contact LOKE Support or your Account Manager
Request that Intelligent Upsell be activated
Optional. Let us know if you want any products tagged as upsell items
Once activated, your checkout screen will immediately begin showing optimised upsell suggestions.
Important Information
You may hear references to a provider called LLM. This is an internal system concept only.
Customers will never see suggestions from LLM
It is not active
It is always set to zero
You do not need to do anything regarding this.
